On the 1st of January, 2007 Bulgaria became one of the European marginal countries and an outside border of the EU. The country has developed a program for improving the conditions of all transport facilities. The program focuses also on: elimination of the narrow parts of the streets, completing of the roads with priority for taking the traffic, improving the quality of the main thoroughfares.
A better integration of the national travel network in the EU and neighbour countries is expected and completing the operative cooperation of Trans-European travel network, with the expected increased traffic and realization of the program.
Several international European highways pass through Bulgaria. These are E 70, E 79 and E 80.
We are witnesses of the efforts for a constantly positive change of the travel conditions in Bulgaria and the integration of the country. With the improvement program Bulgaria will respond to one more requirement of the European Union.
