An European Quality Seal for the Bulgaria’s spa hotels

As a member of the EU, Bulgaria has already started to cover different criteria for quality services and goods. Bulgaria’s great location, landscape and unique treasure of more than 500 mineral springs give the country the opportunity to develop the spa and balneology tourism. Bulgaria’s spa tourism is the next sphere which needs to be certified according to the European Standards. Bulgarian Union of Balneology and Spa Tourism became member of the European Spas Association (ESPA). If the local spa hotels fulfill the ESPA’s criteria for qualified medical services, security, hygiene, they will receive a seal for high quality. The adjudging of the seals are part of the ESPA’s program for harmonizing the services in the spa resorts in Europe. The main goal for the Union of Balneology and Spa Tourism now is to present one completely new image of the Bulgarian all-year-round tourism. Some of the most important events in this initiative are the three presentations of Bulgaria as a great spa and balneology destination in Finland, Estonia and Belgium. A co-operator for the promotions is the State Agency for Tourism. More presentations and state support are needed for developing the spa and balneology tourism in Bulgaria and for attracting the tourists’ interest in this sector. |
