Bulgaria's coastal city of Burgas welcomed 18 000 tourists for one day. 113 flights served by the Burgas Airport on 29, May, 2007

The tourists’ invasion was on the 29th of May (Tuesday), when 18 000 passengers arrived at the Burgas Airport. The guests of the southern Black Sea coast are from Germany, the UK and some Scandinavian countries as Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.The first 10 planes with Finnish and Danish tourists landed at 10 o’clock. There was an interval of 3-5 minutes between each arriving machine. The Airport staff wasn’t prepared for such a busy working day in the end of May, but all the processes were organized very well and there weren’t any problems or irritated people. All the arriving tourists were expecting sunny and warm weather and they were very happy with the appropriate for a summer holiday climate in our country.About 2 million tourists are expected to arrive at the Burgas Airport this season. This is about 10 – 12 % more than the last year. The tour operators expect 12% increase of the total number of the tourists who will visit Bulgaria this summer season as well.  About 60 % of the tourists in Bulgaria are from countries, members of EU. Bulgaria is in the top 3 of preferred tourist destinations among the Europeans, together with Greece and Tunisia. Source: BTA
