The construction of Sofia’s metropolitan railway is progressing

35 % of the project for construction of the first metro diameter – from Serdika station to Mladost station – is already completed.At a most completed stage are the building works in the section from Junak stadium to Interpred trade center where the interior of the station is being done. At this moment one of the directions of the segment from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski to Dragan Tsankov Blvd. is already completed. What has to be done is the parallel tunnel to be digged.45 million levs will be needed for the next two years of the construction of the segment from Dragan Tsankov Blvd. to Mladost 1 district.In 2009 the 8-kilometers road-bed will be finished and equipped for all the six stations that complete the first metro diameter. The tender documentation for the second metro diameter is already prepared – from Nadejda district to Cherni Vruh Blvd. The construction of this segment will start next year.
