Yacht business in Bulgaria goes up

Yacht sales in Bulgaria have increased more than 10 times for the last one yearMore than 100 new vessels were being sold from the beginning of 2007.Yacht trade in Bulgaria registered a growth of more than 1000 per cent for the current year, compared to 2006. Specialists’ opinion is that the deals with vessels soon will exceed 30 million euro. The yacht sales’ bum is now coming though. Most of the preconditions are already apparent. More than 1389 driving licenses for vessels up to 25m long have been issued only from the beginning of the current year, most of which (687) have been obtained in Bourgas. Another cause and effect of the yacht business’ expansion is the construction of new modern yacht port along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. One of the newest and biggest marinas is located in St. Vlas and has 300 vessels capacity; 500 vessels is the maximum capacity of the yacht ports in Balchik and Nessebar.  There are running projects for yacht ports in almost each coastal settlement in Bulgaria.  Although the yacht business is being developed quite fast, Bulgaria is far from the world’s average level, showing that about 1.5 – 3.5 % of the country’s population have one vessel.     Soutce: Capital.bg
