Sofia green again

A new regulation will put an end to the destruction of green areas in the capital and will prioritize the public areas planting projects.  The document will bring into use obligatory, legitimate rules concerning the green system of Sofia – a move that will have a positive impact on the city’s face, sources from the municipality reported.The new regulation, elaborated by the “Green Systems Directorate” of the municipality, requires every building or office in Sofia, to have a green area near by itself. One third of every decare of built-up area will be stipulated for a green area too. Building licenses will be granted only after municipal experts take pictures of the present green vegetation and „ Green Systems " approves the investor’s public area planting project for the new building. Felling license will be granted to builders only in case, they engage themselves with the replanting of the present trees or with the planting of new ones. Act 16 will be granted to already-built structures, only after municipal experts approve the accomplishment of the necessary public areas planting projects. Building will be forbidden in green areas, assigned as parks.  Only temporary buildings and attraction facilities will be allowed in the already existing park areas. Installation of kiosks, refreshment booths and other facilities will be accomplished according to preliminary schemas.
