The construction of “Black Sea” Highway starts next year

The discussion of a concessional contract for the ‘Black Sea’ highway will start in March, 2008, the Bulgarian Ministry of Regional Development announced. The exact route of the new highway is not specified so far. According to the last working project, the new highway should start from Burgas, through Kableshkovo, St. Vlas, Bania, Obzor, Priseltsi and after reaching Beloslav should link with ‘Hemus’ highway through a bridge. 1 km long tunnel is planned to be constructed as a part of the highway as well.The “Black Sea” highway will be a panoramic road, running along the coastline, between the Bulgaria’s biggest coastal cities of Varna and Burgas. The new facility will be part of the European Corridor №8, starting from Duras and connecting Tirana – Scopje – Sofia – Burgas and Varna. The Bulgarian section is planned to be about 103km long.  The new highway is expected to ensure an easy access to all Bulgarian coastal settlements and to facilitate the traffic between the famous sea resorts of Obzor and Nessebar.      Source: Dnevnik.bg
