The town of Veliko Tarnovo awarded

The annual award for municipalities’ achievements in the preservation of the nature in the respective region was adjudged to Veliko Tarnovo municipality. The award is given by the Regional inspection of environment and water.        The town of Veliko Tarnovo is awarded for its prominent achievements in keeping the clearness in the district center, where separated waste collecting was apllied as well as for the progress achieved by the municipality administration in assessment a terrain for building a collect scrap yard.  Gorna Oriahovitsa and Strajitsa were announced as the clearest towns and the prize for the greenest places were given to Zlataritsa and Lyaskovets.  Sevlievo was announced as the municipality, which has received and used the biggest financial support for ecology through the ISPA program – over 16 million euro for building a collect scrap yard and waste water plant.  In the town of Sevlievo are located the only industrial companies (‘Ideal Standard Bulgaria’ and ‘Ideal Standard Vidima’) which do not have any sanctions from the eco inspection. The two companies were also awarded for contribution for protection of the environment.  The prizes were handed on an official ceremony held on the occasion of the World Environment DaySource: www.bgp.bg
