"Bulgaria Air" with highest safety certificate

The air company will bring in electronic tickets by the end of 2007“Bulgaria Air” has become the first Bulgarian air carrier with a safety certificate from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The obtained document is verification that the company reaches the highest standards for save flights in the world. 200 more companies worldwide hold this certificate Gunter Martis, head of IATA’s Flight Safety and Infrastructure Development Department said, while he was bestowing this important document. The international organization, which members execute 94% of the planned international world traffic, will exclude all air companies, which have not covered the safety criteria and have not passed through a special revision for safe exploitation (IOSA) until the end of 2007. 400 more companies should be inspected and one of them is the Bulgarian carrier “Hemus Air”, which had sent in a petition for a special revision. The minister of transport Petar Mutafchiev invited the other Bulgarian air carriers to pass through the safety control IOSA, which will be a big advantage on the air market. The revision includes a technical service checking, flying exploitation, effective activity, land services, cockpit services and three more elements. IATA has already ceased the membership of 6 foreign air companies, because they did not observe the last year’s term (2006). The air companies and the world passengers pay 6.5 billions dollars annually for additional preventive measures related to the safety support after the attempts at the Twin Towers on 11.09.2001. As result of the acts of terrorism, the losses following the aviation crises are estimated at more than 40 billion dollars, Mr. Martis said. The safety head of the IATA explained that in July, 2007 the temporary decision for access to passengers’ data, flying between EU and USA will expire. This decision was made 6 weeks after the frustrated conspire in Great Britain last summer. By the end of the current year (2007) the electronic tickets (E Tickets) should be introduced by all air companies, members of IATA. In Europe the electronic tickets are more than 80% of all used tickets. By the end of 2007 “Bulgaria Air” is expected to be processing 76% of its tickets electronically.
