The Russian citizens travel more to west destinations

According to the records of the Russian tourist agents’ association every 6 months Bulgaria add 25% more Russian tourists to the amount of the visitors who have already been in Bulgaria. As reasons for the constant interest to our country the Russian tourists point out the lack of language barrier, the Bulgarian hospitality, the low prices and the actively infrastructure’s development. The experts recommend to the Russians tour – operators to keep an eye on Bulgaria. According to the records of the Russian association of tourist agents (RATA) last year the Russian tourists have increased their market segments in almost all Balkan countries. During the first eight months of 2006 the growth is approximately 22% (181 397 Russian citizens have chosen Bulgaria for their holiday destination). During the last few years Bulgaria has strengthened its positions as a preferred winter destination among the Russian tourists. For the first three months of the current year, 45% more Russian tourists than the same period of the last year have declared that their purpose for visiting Bulgaria is a ‘holiday and recreation’. If the Russian tourists have come to Bulgaria for their summer holidays so far, now they are coming fro skiing in our well-known ski resorts. They are seeking for luxury five stars hotels and excellent ski-runs, which the Bulgarian winter resorts provide.The time limit for having a tourist visa for the Russians is between 1 and 3 days for short term visit in the country and for long term visit it takes about 30 working days.
