Bansko Municipality plans building a new sports hall

The construction of a multifunctional sports hall is planned to be realized in the ski resort of Bansko, announced the mayor of the town Alexander Kravarov, on a special press conference, which took place on Monday the 12th of February. He stated that the purpose of the municipality is to build a sports centre with over 5000 seats which will host ice-hockey, basketball, volleyball and soccer matches. The executor of the project will be selected by the mayor’s administration until the end of June this year among all companies which have presented their projects to the municipality. The mayor explained that the municipality will provide the terrain for building the new sports hall.At this stage the mayor cannot specify the position of the sports centre. This depends on whether the intentions of the local government will correspond to the plans of the companies, which will prepare the layouts. According to the mayor, there will be a soccer playground and tennis courts around the hall. The complex is expected to be built at the beginning of the town, together with a big parking lot and a hotel.Opening of an ice-skating ring is planned to take place before the end of this month. The new sports facility is being constructed with resources of the joint-stock company “Ulen”, concessioner of the ski zone in Bansko. The ice-rink will be used from guests of the resort as well as from the local children. Every morning there will be trainings with trainers especially employed by the company of “Ulen”.Within three years “Balkanstroi” AD will invest in Bansko and Razlog over 130 million leva in the construction of sports and tourist complex with golf course (on territory of 780 decares), ski, spa, trade and sports centers, horse base, hotel and apartments’ complexes with total area of about 100 decares. Significant resources will be invested in the improvement of the infrastructure of the region, namely construction and renovation of the roads, water supply and sewerage system and electrical system. This is the second similar project of the company. The first one is for a golf complex, in which will be invested 240 million leva.
