Sunny Beach Resort welcomes its first tourists

Bulgaria's biggest Black Sea Resort Sunny Beach already welcomed its first tourists for the 2007 summer season.According to an old Bulgarian custom the first group of 39 Israelis was welcomed with bread and salt. The Mayor of Nessebar wished the guests to have a really great time while staying in Bulgaria.The Nessebar municipality expects a 10 per cent increase of tourists this season because of Bulgaria's accession to the EU. Furthermore it makes people feel safe and the release of duty taxes makes their trip easier, a representative of a tourist agency said. The big tour operators are expecting an exceptionally busy tourist season. The tourists’ bookings in the resorts of the municipality of Nessebar have recorded an increase with about 8-10 per cent year after year. A big part of the tourists are Germans and Britons and there is an increased interest by the Scandinavians to visit Bulgaria. An increase number of tourists from the Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania are also making their reservations in the Bulgarian sea resorts. The Bulgarian local authorities are trying their best to improve the infrastructure and to create optimal conditions for the tourists, the representative of the municipality Dimitar Yankov said. He also added that in the beginning of the summer season a new police station will be opened in Nessebar, which will guarantee мore effective control on the public order in the town. Source: BTA |
